Please see here for the newly adopted Tourism Strategy 2023-28:
Council at its meeting held on the 17th of April formerly adopted the District Council of Peterborough Tourism Strategy 2023-2028.
The Strategy provides an in-depth plan for how to successfully leverage off the current tourist attractions offered throughout the district, as well as ensuring future tourism investment, growth and development. In recognising Tourism as an essential pillar of the Peterborough and District’s economy, the Strategy paves the way for the establishment of key partnerships with local businesses, community, Council, SATC and other key stakeholders to ensure longevity and success of our district.
With visitor spend recorded at $7.14million (26% of total spend in the district) over the past 12 months, by working collaboratively under a strategic and cohesive alliance established under the Strategy, the tourism spend in our community will grow.
Council extends its sincere thanks to all the business and community members who attended the forums and who provided feedback and input. This input is highly valued and greatly assisted in the development of the Strategy by the Peterborough Tourism Management Committee guided by Council’s Tourism and Community Development Manager, Megan Cusack. It is truly a great outcome.
The Tourism Strategy 2023-2028 can be found on Council’s website and is available at the Council Offices and the Visitor Information Centre at Steamtown.
Mayor Ruth Whittle OAM and Stephen Rufus Chief Executive Officer thanks everyone involved and look forward to the future development of our district’s Tourism Industry.
